The Legal Sub Division/Unit is functioning under the Director General of CIDA. This Sub Division is entrusted with the Legal related work connected to functions of CIDA, as stipulated in the Construction Industry Development Act. This Sub Division/Unit handles the Secretarial work relating to the Meetings of Board of Management of CIDA as well.

Services provided by the Legal Sub Division/Unit of the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA), as per the Corporate Plan of CIDA for 2020 – 2024 is as follows:
Legal Sub Division/Unit of CIDA is entrusted with all the legal matters of the CIDA including, Labour Tribunal Cases, Court Cases, Arbitration Matters and Inquiries at the Human Rights Commission, the Department of Labour and Right to Information Commission. This Unit is also assigned with all the legal agreements and MOUs of CIDA. The Legal Unit assists in the legal issues in the areas of Construction, Human Resource Management and such other matters relating to all the Divisions of CIDA. This Unit provides legal opinions, attends to interpretation and drafting of Acts and Bills, and handles the legal issues pertaining to the CID Act.
The Legal Unit also undertakes matters relating to the Meetings of the Board of Management of CIDA, the Audit and Management Committee Meetings and the National Advisory Council on Construction Meetings. The Legal Unit also assists in the matters relating to Disciplinary Committee, Appeals Board established under the CID Act and actions against Violations of the CID Act.
